For Families and Kids

Yale Activities

  1. The Peabody Museum will have reopened by May and is set to be really impressive. Check out the self-guided scavenger hunt and other children’s programs.
  2. The Visitors Center offers Yale tours. There’s a Kids’ Architectural Treasure Hunt. Parents taking the campus tour with children ages 6-11 can request a brochure that encourages the children to hunt for architectural details and designs.
  3. This page lists the Yale museums and libraries.
  4. Attend a show or other event on the Yale calendar of events.

New Haven

  1. Visit New Haven has information on things to do, shopping, where to eat, recreation, events, and more.
  2. Hiking in East Rock Park will be great this time of year. Kingfisher Boat Rentals rents kayaks along the Mill River (on Orange Street).
  3. Rent bikes downtown and bike down the Farmington Canal (23 miles or so with restaurants along the way), up to East Rock, or along Long Wharf (to the taco trucks along the ocean).
  4. A little way out, but if they are into crafts, they can make their own candles, mosaics, paintings, and ceramics at The Clay Date.
  5. If hanging out with cats is their thing, Mew Haven Cat Café is fun.
